PLF Reviews compares the four Product Launch Formula launch types Jeff Walker teaches — Seed, Internal, JV and Evergreen — and shows how they chain into what he calls the Launch Conga Line, using his own weekly Masterclass as a live evergreen example.
A true story about adapting: Bethany Hamilton

On October 31, 2003, a tiger shark bit off 13-year-old Bethany Hamilton’s left arm while she was surfing in Kauai. She lost more than 60% of her blood. Twenty-six days later she was back in the water, learning to paddle and stand up with one arm. She went on to surf professionally.
She kept the goal and changed the technique. That’s the point of having several launch types in the Product Launch Formula: a Seed Launch, an Internal Launch, a JV Launch or an evergreen system — the method adapts to where you are. Read the full story: Bethany Hamilton: back in 26 days.
Why launch types matter
Every launch type in PLF uses the same core sequence — pre-prelaunch, prelaunch content, open cart — but each launch type changes who sees it and what it needs before it starts.
A common misconception is that a “PLF launch” is one fixed thing. In reality, Jeff Walker teaches different launches for different situations — and choosing the right one for your stage is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Choose too big too soon and you’ll exhaust yourself; choose too small for too long and you’ll leave growth on the table.
1. Seed Launch — Start From Zero
- For: beginners, new ideas, no product yet.
- List: tiny — dozens to a few hundred people.
- How: announce a simple offer, sell it, create it as you deliver it.
- Goal: validation, first revenue, testimonials.

2. Internal Launch — The Classic PLF Launch
Full guide: internal launch.
- For: businesses with an audience and an offer.
- List: small to large — your own subscribers and followers.
- How: pre-prelaunch, three pieces of prelaunch content, open cart, close, post-launch.
- Goal: a significant sales spike from your own audience.
This is what most people picture when they hear “Product Launch Formula.” Done well, it often generates a large share of a business’s annual revenue in a single week.
3. JV (Joint Venture) Launch — Scale With Partners
Full guide: JV launch.
- For: proven offers ready to scale.
- List: yours plus partners’ audiences.
- How: partners (affiliates) promote your prelaunch content; you pay them a commission on sales.
- Goal: dramatically expand reach and sales.
JV launches are behind many famous six- and seven-figure launches. They work best after you’ve proven your conversions with Internal Launches, because good partners want to promote offers that convert.
4. Evergreen Launch — Automate What Works
Full guide: evergreen launch.
- For: launches that already convert.
- List: a steady flow of new subscribers.
- How: automate the launch sequence so it runs on a schedule (weekly, monthly) for new people.
- Goal: predictable, ongoing sales.
Jeff Walker’s own weekly Launch Masterclass is a live example: a new group starts every week, follows the same calendar, sees the same content and then the PLF offer.

The Launch Conga Line
Full guide: Launch Conga Line.
Jeff Walker describes a business as a series of launches — a “Launch Conga Line.” Each launch feeds the next:
- A Seed Launch creates your product and first testimonials.
- An Internal Launch uses those testimonials to sell to a growing list.
- A JV Launch uses proven conversions to recruit partners.
- An Evergreen version turns the best launch into an ongoing system.
- Meanwhile, new offers start with new Seed Launches.
How to choose your next launch type
Pick the launch type that matches your stage, not the one with the biggest headline numbers. Each launch type in Product Launch Formula assumes the assets the previous one created; skipping a launch type usually means launching without the list, product or proof it needs.
- No product and fewer than ~1,000 subscribers? Seed Launch.
- A product and an engaged list? Internal Launch.
- Proven conversions and partner relationships? JV Launch.
- A launch that converts and steady lead flow? Evergreen.
